Police report '420' citations
Eureka Reporter
Friday 20 Apr 2007 The unsanctioned celebration of the illegal drug marijuana on Friday commonly referred to as “420” didn’t go unnoticed by the Arcata Police Department. Arcata’s Redwood Park has become one of the main areas were celebrants congregate, according to the news release, and the crowd on Friday was estimated at approximately 3,500 people. In an effort to curb problems the city has dealt with in the past, officers from Humboldt State University, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol were assigned to the area to assist Arcata police officers. Arcata police reported that 11 citations for possession of marijuana were made, along with citations for possession of concentrated cannabis, consumption of alcohol in a prohibited area, minor in possession of alcohol and one public intoxication.
