UK: Police raid cannabis factory (Norwich)
Norwich Evening News
Tuesday 24 Apr 2007 Police have seized more than 250 cannabis plants from a property in the city's Pilling Park area. Officers called to a home just after 2.30pm on Thursday found evidence of organised cultivation, with high-powered lamps and other equipment. About 270 plants were seized, Norfolk police said today. A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Sgt Geoff Bowers said: “People who engage in the cultivation of cannabis are involved in a criminal enterprise that is likely to lead to their arrest and prosecution, but we are also concerned by the risks that can be caused to other people. “Firstly, there have been incidents where neighbouring homes and properties have been flooded, causing expense and inconvenience to others, and there is also the risk of electrical fires.” EveningNewsLetters@archant.co.uk http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/
