UK: Ex-soldier was drugs courier
News and Star
Thursday 19 Apr 2007 A FORMER soldier who became a drugs courier to repay a debt built up by his own habit, has been jailed for 12 months by the Sheriff at Dumfries. Peter Walker, 34, was said to have begun using drugs after being discharged from the army after nine years service due to an injury. He built up a debt of £1,500 and was caught by police with cannabis resin at a service station near Lockerbie. Walker, a taxi driver, now living in Morecambe, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis resin on the M74 last December. His solicitor told the court that following his arrest Walker admitted everything to police. Sheriff Kenneth Barr said there was no alternative to a prison sentence.
