US: Dozens March For Marijuana Reform
Turnto23.com
Monday 07 May 2007 BAKERSFIELD -- Dozens of people demonstrated in downtown Bakersfield Saturday, calling for the legalization of marijuana. Carrying signs saying "I'm a stoner and I vote" and "Cannabis is safer than alcohol", supporters walked from Beach Park to the Liberty Bell where they held a rally. Click here to find out more! Demonstrators argue since California voters passed Proposition 215, which allows the consumption of marijuana for medicinal purposes more than ten years ago, federal authorities should have no right to raid legal dispensaries. Drug enforcement agents seized several pounds of pot Tuesday at a dispensary in Oildale, and say federal law making marijuana illegal supersedes the state law. Some supporters say the federal government should legalize weed and impose taxes on weed to generate millions, if not billions of dollars in tax revenue. http://www.turnto23.com/news/13265668/detail.html
