UK: Sentenced for cannabis production
News Shopper
Thursday 31 May 2007 A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment after being charged with producing £100,000 worth of cannabis. A semi-detached house in Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, was raided by police on May 29. Police uncovered 400 to 600 cannabis plants which were being used to produce the drug. Lee Thanh Nyugen was arrested at the house and interviewed in connection with the cultivation of cannabis and stealing electricity. Greenwich safer neighbourhood officers raided the address at 7am. Nyugen, of no fixed abode, was charged with producing cannabis and pleaded guilty at Woolwich Magistrates' Court in Market Street, Woolwich, last Wednesday. Sergeant Alfred Peacock, of the Kidbrooke and Hornfair safer neighbourhood team, said: "I want to emphasise that these sort of operations are linked with serious and organised crime networks. "We do not want them and the associated crime they bring to the neighbourhood." http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/
