24.dash
Tuesday 12 Jun 2007 British Transport Police have arrested 13 people for drugs possession during an operation at Portsmouth Harbour railway station. BTP officers and passive drugs dogs were involved in the two-day operation targeting people carrying illegal substances on the way to the Isle of Wight Festival. BTP South West Quadrant Inspector Mick Morriss said: "The carrying of illegal substances on the railways is a serious offence. "On the whole most of the commuters coming through the station and onto the ferry to the festival were extremely well behaved and caused no problems. "Police stopped and searched 64 people during the operation and 13 people were arrested for drugs possession, which was mainly cannabis."
