Independent On-Line South Africa
Thursday 23 Aug 2007 Sydney - A 39-year-old Australian who took a cannabis plant into a Brisbane courtroom in January was Thursday put on trial for possession of a dangerous drug. Peter Till told the magistrate that he needed the 90-centimetre plant with him because it was evidence in an unrelated court matter. Till hid the plant in a plastic bag to get it inside the court complex, but it was spotted by security guards when it was put on the security x-ray machine's conveyor belt. Till, who representing himself, told the court he uses marijuana for medicinal purposes as a pain reliever. - Sapa-DPA
