Italy: Three-month ban recommended for Italian fencer
International Herald Tribune
Tuesday 18 Sep 2007 The Italian Olympic Committee recommended a three-month ban Tuesday for Italian fencer Marco Ciari following a positive test for marijuana. Traces of cannabis were found in Ciari's system following a test on July 14 at the Italian fencing championships in Naples. Ciari has acknowledged that he used the substance and apologized, although he said it was only for one night. CONI referred the case to the Italian fencing federation. Ciari has been training with Italy's team for the fencing World Championships, scheduled for Sept. 28-Oct. 7 in St. Petersburg, Russia. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/09/18/sports/EU-SPT-FEN-Doping-Ciari.php
