Gambia: 36 Months for Cannabis Cultivator

Wednesday 19 Sep 2007 After admitting responsibility for cultivating a prohibited drug, one Modou Sanyang could now spend 36 months in jail if he defaults in paying a D50,000 court fine. Modou Sanyang had pleaded guilty to charges of cultivating cannabis sativa in the quantity of 240g in contravention of sections 1 and 6 of the Drug Control Act as amended. The case was chaired by magistrate Edrisa Mbai and the National Drug Enforcement Agency was represented by Director of Operations, Ousman Sanneh. http://www.thepoint.gm/Courts783.htm
