UK: Man found with cannabis (medical)
Easternbourne Herald
Wednesday 10 Oct 2007 A man caught with a small stash of cannabis has been given a conditional discharge after claiming it helps him cope with a medical problem. Kyle Feneron, 21, of Raleigh Close, Eastbourne, was arrested in the town in June in connection with a number of alleged offences. Police found he had around 1g of herbal cannabis on him during a search – a drug he claims he uses to combat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Prosecutor Mark Kateley told Lewes magistrates, "The police seized a bag of herbal cannabis from a Mercedes van when Mr Feneron was arrested. "He was interviewed and said he paid £10 for it and it was for his own personal use and that is accepted by the Crown." Feneron admitted illegally possessing a class C drug when he appeared in court on Wednesday. Kevin Light, defending, said, "He is not working at the moment but works as a labourer. "He is not claiming benefits as he is hoping to get work again. "He is 21 and has admitted this in interview and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. "It was a small amount and was for his own personal use. "He suffers rather badly from ADHD and finds the use of cannabis tends to calm him down and helps him. "That's why he takes this particular drug. "He does not have any previous convictions for like offences." Feneron was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £75 costs. Magistrates also ordered that the cannabis be destroyed. http://www.eastbourneherald.co.uk/news/Man-found-with-cannabis.3362740.jp
