Hong Kong: Police find 1,500 plants in huge cannabis warehouse
Digital Journal, Canada
Tuesday 09 Oct 2007 Police in Hong Kong said Wednesday they had raided the biggest cannabis nursery in the territory, seizing 1,500 plants capable of producing 30 kilograms of the drug every eight weeks. Two men were arrested at the 3,000 square feet warehouse on an industrial estate in the city's Kwai Chung where solar lights, air conditioners and machines releasing carbon dioxide were used to help the cannabis plants grow faster than normal. A police spokesman said the nursery had been operating for about three months and was the biggest of its kind found in the city of 6.9 million, where cannabis seizures have risen sharply in the past two years. The raid on Tuesday overshadowed another police operation in which a cannabis nursery containing 1,300 plants was busted by police in a different part of Hong Kong last year. http://www.digitaljournal.com/
