UK: Dope Pill In MS Trial

Daily Record

Thursday 01 Nov 2007

---
THREE Scottish hospitals are taking part in a major trial to discover if
a "cannabis pill" could hold back the onset of multiple sclerosis.

Researchers also hope to discover whether cannabis can reduce the
severity of the symptoms.

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the Western General in Edinburgh and Ayrshire
Central in Irvine are involved in the study with 19 English hospitals
and one in Wales.

Prof Gavin Giovannoni, a neurologist at the Royal London Hospital, said:
"This trial is vital in finding a treatment to stop MS progressing."
