UK: Drug dealer's siblings have assets seized
icSouthLondon
Friday 09 Nov 2007 ASSETS worth more than £425,000 have been seized from the brother and sister of a convicted drug dealer. Calvin Prince was found guilty of possession and supply of cannabis in 2004. A High Court judge heard that his sister, Hortense,52, and brother, Derek, 46, had bought interests in properties using profits from his drugs trade. The sister,of Francemary Road, Brockley, will lose interests in a building in Roxley Road, Brockley, while the brother,of Rita Road, Vauxhall, will lose interests in one in Dulwich Road, Herne Hill. The Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) chased the siblings after a referral from the Met following Calvin's conviction in 2004. Hortense told the agency she had been given a bag by her father shortly before he died, which she claimed to have later discovered contained £100,000. A High Court hearing rejected the claim and Hortense later entered into settlement negotiations with the agency. Charlie Dickin, from the ARA, said: "Criminals need to know that they cannot hide their ill-gotten gains and using a tactic to buy property in others' names will not stop us tracking down their assets." http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.uk/
