UK: Cannabis factory raids continue
Northants Evening Telegraph
Saturday 17 Nov 2007 A MAN accused of growing £100,000 worth of cannabis plants in Corby has appeared in court. Chinese asylum seeker Zu Ming Zhou is accused of cultivating the class C drug at Lister Close. The 22-year-old appeared at Corby Magistrates Court yesterday following Thursday's police raid. Officers found hundreds of plants in the detached family home, as well as growing equipment. A bail application was refused and Zhou, who gave an address of Canterbury Court, Cherry Close, Edgeware, London, was remanded in custody. He will reappear at Corby magistrates in a week. The court case came on the same day police raided several other suspected cannabis factories in Northampton homes. The closure of a sophisticated hydroponics set-up in the town yesterday brought the number of factories discovered and closed down in just over six months to 23. Officers spent hours removing about 300 mature plants from the home in Pembroke Road in Northampton. They were thought to have a street value of about £100,000. Two Vietnamese men were arrested at the house, which was one of five properties searched in Northampton. Other properties searched yesterday included homes in Thorn Hill, Westfield Road, Duston, Dimock Square in Camp Hill, and Coverack Close, in Delapre. http://www.northantset.co.uk/news/Cannabis-factory-raids-continue.3496643.jp
