UK: Labour defer decision on party stance on decriminalisation of
Belfast Telegraph
Saturday 17 Nov 2007 The Labour Party has voted to refer the decriminalisation of cannabis and marijuana motion to its National Executive for further discussion. The decision was carried by just 24 votes following a contentious debate on the matter at the Party's 62nd Annual Conference in Wexford. Emmet Stag argued that cannabis needed to be treated the same way as alcohol. Former leader Pat Rabbitte said that the issue needs to be discussed at national executive level. He did agree that drug policy makers need to think outside the box. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/breaking-news/ireland/politics/article3169978.ece
