UK: Cannabis flavoured drinks banned
Morning Advertiser
Tuesday 04 Dec 2007 A range of cannabis-flavoured drinks have been banned by drinks watchdog Portman Group for their illicit drug connection. Perigan's Cannabis-Flavoured Gin, Iganoff Cannabis-Flavoured Vodka and Rodnik's Cannabis-Flavoured Absinthe β all produced by Beveland SA β were found to breach the Portman's Code of Practice on the Naming, Packaging and Promotion of Alcoholic Drinks. The products, which featured a cannabis leaf on the labels, were brought to Portman's attention by a Bristol licensee. βToo many young adults these days regard alcohol and illicit drugs as interchangeable," said Portman chief executive David Poley. "The industry must not contribute to this attitude but instead distance itself totally from illegal drugs. "This rare example of inappropriate marketing should not be allowed to blight the responsible actions of the overwhelming majority of drinks producers.β http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/news_detail.aspx?articleid=54580 -- http://astore.amazon.co.uk/webbooks05
