Sir, - Re: 'Cannabis must be made legal', (Letters, December 3). Dilys
Wood puts the case for legalising this drug but fails to put both sides
of the argument. Since Labour downgraded cannabis, more young people
started smoking it. Cannabis is the start of the road towards hard
drugs. It creates paranoia and schizophrenia in those susceptible to its
contents. I have seen what this insidious drug can do to a young, fit,
healthy man and how it destroyed his life. The justice system has done
nothing to deter anyone, only encouraged it, with the help of people
like Mrs Dilys Wood.
