Letter: Don't be fooled by drug myths
Alun Buffry The Sentinel
Tuesday 11 Dec 2007 Regarding cannabis use, T Cope says: "The justice system has done nothing to deter anyone" (The Sentinel, December 5: 'This dreadful drug just destroys lives') yet seems to favour the present system over legalisation, citing claims that suggest most cannabis users go on to take hard drugs, and more young people have taken cannabis since downgrading. Neither is true. Most cannabis users suffer no bad effects, and many experience health improvements. Can't T Cope see it is pointless advocating a prohibition policy that has failed? Dilys Wood was right to suggest legalisation ('Cannabis must be made legal', The Sentinel, December 3). ALAN BUFFRY Norwich http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/ CLICK on NEWS, click on Letters
