UK: Police find cannabis factory
Chris Osuh Manchester Evening News
Thursday 17 Jan 2008 A CANNABIS factory has been discovered on a quiet suburban street in Withington. On Wednesday night at around 6.30pm the landlords found the tenants had gone, leaving the remnants of a massive cultivation operation at the Delaine Road property. Police swooped on the semi-detached house at 7am the following morning and discovered every room apart from the bathroom and front room had been used as a makeshift greenhouse. Electricity had been re-routed, holes had been cut in the ceiling, and a massive amount of fans had been dumped in a room. Police removed growing equipment from the scene and dumped a huge mound of soil in the garden. Thomas Cunningham, of Withington, told the MEN: "We recently spent £65,000 on an extension to the house and let it to five people who told us they were Chinese students. "They didn't pay the rent last month so we came round to see what the score was and found they had left, leaving behind quite a mess. "It was a shock but I'm just glad nobody got injured. As a landlord everybody assumes you just collect the money, but there can be a lot more risk to it than that." http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1032583_police_find_cannabis_factory
