UK: Plants haul from suspected cannabis factory
Derbyshire Times
Wednesday 30 Jan 2008 Police have seized what they believe to be 300 cannabis plants after a drugs raid at a former Chinese take-away. Officers smashed their way into the disused building — formerly Ming's Kitchen — on Old Hall Road, Brampton, on Tuesday morning and discovered a suspected cannabis factory. The plants were found in five rooms in the property along with equipment such as lights and heaters. Det Sgt Richard Kubon said: "This appears to be quite a sophisticated set-up with more than 300 plants." Police have traced the owners of the building, which was being rented out, and have launched a search for the occupants. Forensic experts are due to examine the plants which police believe were being grown to produce the class C drug in quantities that could have had a street value of tens of thousands of pounds. Det Sgt Kubon added: "We're working to trace the occupants of the premises and would ask for anyone with information which might help track them to contact us." http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/chesterfield/Plants-haul-from-suspected-cannabis.3728548.jp
