UK: Cannabis factory uncovered after fire at flat
Amanda Smith Bolton News
Saturday 09 Feb 2008 THE remains of a cannabis factory were discovered after a fire in a flat. The burnt plants were found in the roof of a first floor flat in Carrfield Avenue, Little Hulton. No one was in the house when the blaze happened at 2.45pm yesterday. It is not known what caused the fire and an investigation into the cause has been launched. One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "I heard a lot of shouting so I came outside and saw smoke coming out of the roof. "I didn't stay outside for long because it was too smokey for my little boy." Firefighers were at the house for more than four hours. A spokesman for the fire service said: "We got the call as people inside the house and sent three fire engines but no-one was inside. "About 40 per cent of the loft space was damaged by the fire and it was smoke logged." A police spokesman said: "Police officers attended and discovered what they believe to be the remains of a cannabis factory in the loft. Inquiries are continuing." http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/
