UK: Tenant Given Last Chance

Tuesday 30 Nov 1999 A COUNCIL tenant who stored drugs and weapons in his property has been allowed to stay in his home provided he does not break the law again. David Hooton, aged 53, is on a last chance warning at his Doe Royd Crescent home in Parson Cross, Sheffield. The council has been granted a postponed possession order against Hooton after he was convicted of possessing cannabis with intent to supply twice in less than three years. Following a conviction for possession of cannabis with intent to supply at Sheffield Crown Court in September, the council applied for a possession order against Hooton at Sheffield County Court. Hooton asked for it to be postponed as he is suffering from medical problems. The postponement was granted on the condition Hooton, and anyone residing or visiting him, is not convicted of using the property, or allowing it to be used, for illegal or immoral purposes.
