Prospective LCA Candidate for Kensington & Chelsea By-election LCA LCA Press Release Tuesday 26 Oct 1999 Colin Paisley, 62, ex-Mayor of Carlisle, has been selected as the prospective Legalise Cannabis Alliance candidate in the forthcoming by-election in Kensington and Chelsea. After his selection, Mr Paisley said: "I am delighted to have been chosen to fight this by-election on behalf of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance. I lived in this constituency for the best part of eighteen years between 1963 - 1981 and all of this time I was dependent on heroin - a prescribed addict not dependent on a dealer. I was never introduced to heroin through the so called 'gateway' of cannabis; on the contrary, before prohibition the two groups barely communicated. The myth of cannabis deaths and cannabis leading on to addictive drugs is no more than a throwback to the "Reefer Madness" of the thirties and forties.
