Trevor Smith Election Communication
Wednesday 03 May 2000 I am standing for election because I strongly believe that it is everyone's RIGHT to use cannabis either for MEDICINE or for LEISURE. It has been proved that cannabis can help with brain tumours, Multiple Sclerosis, many types of pain, eye complaints like glaucoma, nausea suffered by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, loss of appetite, sleeplessness and many other problems. Cannabis also relieves stress - the biggest killer of all - and helps people to relax. A huge number of people suffer the side-effects from taking pharmaceutical pills, whereas natural cannabis that can be grown at home, is acknowledged by patients and experts alike, to be more effective and less dangerous. There is a massive amount of taxpayers' money, well over 1 BILLION pounds a year, spent on capturing and punishing about 100,000 cannabis users. All that money would be better spent on the Health Service. That seems to me a greater crime than a person smoking a plant. I would, if elected, lobby the council to Stop the building of more new shops and shopping complexes when there are so many lying empty. Open more youth and adult community centres and increase local facilities to provide non-commercial venues for people to go. This would help keep youths off the streets and help them stay out of trouble. Stop wasting taxpayers money on schemes that favour big businesses over individual people. I am now 38 years of age and I am keen to use my knowledge to help right the many wrongs I see in the world at large and the community around us. I firmly believe that the authorities should put the needs of the people and the environment first. The legalisation and utilisation of cannabis would be a major step in that direction. I will be pleased to try to answer any questions that you may have. REMEMBER - YOU HAVE A VOICE YOU HAVE A VOTE PLEASE USE IT ON THURSDAY MAY 6TH. THROUGH VOTING YOU CAN CHANGE THINGS. Sincerely, TREVOR SMITH Legalise Cannabis Alliance April 2000
