My name is John Peacock and I am your Legalise Cannabis Alliance candidate for
Workington in the forthcoming general election.

I have resided in Cumbria all my life and I now live in Silloth, with my
partner, two step sons and baby daughter. My beliefs in the legalisation of
cannabis are very serious and based upon my studies of both its many uses and
the 'wrongness' of the law.

I know about cannabis from my own medical use for the treatment of epilepsy.
Conventional medicine worked but the side effects were very unpleasant and
long term use would have been detrimental to my health. I have used cannabis
medicinally for the past 3 years and no longer have to use my prescribed
medication. I would not advise anybody to break the law, but clearly I am not
alone in feeling that sometimes it is essential. In any case it makes no sense
to punish a cannabis-user who is harming no one. It is a waste of resources
and unnecessarily creates alienation and criminal records.

Some people do not realise how serious this issue is. It certainly is not a
'single issue'. In fact, cannabis is a vital issue that includes legal rights,
human rights, therapeutic rights, spiritual rights, and environmental issues.
The cannabis issue has many important effects on all aspects of life. I am
prepared to talk to anyone who wishes to discuss the use of cannabis if they
need more information.

If our proposals are put into effect, it will result in the decrease in
general crime rate. It will ease the drugs problem. It will increase police
and court resources to fight serious crime.
* Increase the Governments revenue through taxation on profits.
* Increase public and social well-being, spirit, health and happiness.
* Decrease pollution and reduce the cost of fuel, energy, and power for
our homes, businesses, factories etc.
* Effectively reduce unemployment.

Cannabis is used by all sections of society. Most of us know a cannabis user,
even if we are not aware of it. Their use of cannabis is not harming anyone
and I am forced to ask: "Should the law punish people who are not harming
anyone?"

If you agree that the answer is "no", then please vote for me, your LEGALISE
CANNABIS ALLIANCE candidate, and help send a message to the government that a
high proportion of voters support a rethink on cannabis legislation.

I feel that our draconian cannabis laws are based upon lies and
misinformation, now is your chance to change the law - vote Legalise Cannabis
Alliance.
