ACTIVITIES
Manifestos were sent to 15 more MPs.
LCA representatives attended the 'Smokey Bears'
Picnic' in Chelmsford, the opening of the Dutch
Experience coffeeshop on Stockport, the 'Angel
Conference' in London (results to be announced
soon: "The Angel Declaration"), and the London
March and Trafalgar Square rally.

PRESS and LETTERS

During September 2001:

September 2: Patman Denning, Milton Keynes, an
MS sufferer who is doing a parachute jump to
raise money for the LCA, MMCO and FMMF in
October, was covered in the Milton Keynes Sunday
Citizen: "Jumping to Legalise Pot"


Sept 3: Don Barnard (Essex) gave comments to
several papers concerning the Smokey Bears Picnic
for Chelmsford on Sept 8th, and the following
articles were printed:
Colchester Evening Gazette, "Park Protest Planned
Over Cannabis Laws",
Essex Chronicle, "Cannabis Party in the Park",
Ananova, "Essex police says it may enforce the law
if supporters of legalising cannabis hold a
planned "Smokey Bear" party"

Sept 4: Patman Denning (Milton Keynes South West)
put in a TV appearance on BBC Look East

Sept 5: Radio 1 request for interviews for a
programme planned for later in the year.
Sept 5: Radio Hallam, Sheffield, request for
interviews with people in area.

Sept 6: BBC Radio Scotland request for interviews
with parents
Sept 6: Alun Buffry had a letter printed in the
Daily Express: "Labour refuses to budge on
cannabis reform"

Sept 10: Bella Magazine requests information on use
of cannabis biomass as a source of fuel.

Sept 20: Patman Denning (Milton Keynes) had a
story in the Milton Keynes Citizen about how he
would like to open a coffeeshop there.

Sept 30: Candis magazine prints article with
arguments from Alun Buffry in favour (misquoted),
and Peter Stoker against, legalisation. Candis
also running on-line poll (soon) at
http://www.candis.co.uk
Chris Baldwin (Worthing East and Shoreham) gave
a presentation at Lancing College today. He then
held a poll. In the secret ballot upper 6th form
students were asked 'Should cannabis be
legalised?' Here are the results:
Yes - 67
No - 4
Don't know - 6

September 29th: Cannabis Peace March and Rally
in London. Speakers included Alun Buffry and
Patman Denning


COMING MONTHS

18th October, Oxford Union debate on legalisation.

26th October, Private Members Bill on
legalisation presented in House of Commons by
Jon Owen Jones MP. Demonstration (provisional)
outside Parliament calling for a free vote and
public debate.

27th October: Patman's parachute jump.
MS sufferer and ex-parliamentary candidate Patman
Denning of Milton Keynes is planning to do his
sponsored parachute jump on October 27th, weather
permitting.

Money raised through sponsorship will be split
between the Medical Marijuana Cooperative, the
Free Medical Marijuana Foundation and the LCA.
The jump will be at the Hinton Airfield near
Farthinghoe, Oxfordshire, probably in the
afternoon. To get to Farthinghoe, leave the
M40 at junction 11 and follow the A422, or
leave at junction 10 on A43 to Buckley then
Farthinghoe.

Friday 2 November toThursday 8 November 2001:
Cannabis Film Week at the Cromwell Cinema,
Huntington, UK. This event will be largely
geared around the local schools. There will be
limited places available to the public. The
films will still go ahead in the evenings -
please note: the owners of the cinema have
voiced concern about the audience 'sparking
up' during the films, "we are a no-smoking
cinema". There is a very big park 200 meters

Summary: The LCA is rapidly running out
of funds!

support we can do little. Just £1 a week
from a large number of people would work
wonders. ALL funds are spent on campaigning
