Committee to debate drug law issues
Ananova
Tuesday 06 Nov 2001 An all-party committee of MPs is to hear a range of arguments in favour of softening laws on hard and soft drugs. The Home Affairs Select Committee is taking evidence from witnesses who are pro- legalisation and pro-decriminalisation. The move is part of its inquiry into whether the UK's drug laws are working. At last week's session, Home Office officials were rebuked by committee chairman Chris Mullin MP for failing to address the idea of radical measures such as across-the-board legalisation in their evidence. Today's witnesses are Danny Kushlick from drug reform campaign group Transform, Guardian journalist Nick Davies, Muzik magazine editor Conor McNicholas, Liberty's Roger Warren Evans and the Legalise Cannabis Alliance's Alun Buffry.
