Cannabis Cafes to Reduce Drug Related Crime
Don Barnard Press Release
Thursday 03 Jan 2002 Building on the success of candidate Buster Nolan in Braintree 1997 and 2001 general elections, the Legalise Cannabis Alliance are pleased to announce that Braintree resident Don Barnard has been selected to contest the Braintree West Ward in the forth coming local council by-election to be held on 31 January 2002. Don Barnard said: "At first glance legalising cannabis may seem like a single issue. This is not so, however. It is an issue that affects society in many way ways, such as law and order, health, education, trade, agriculture, the environment and human rights .It's an issue that should concern us all. We all pay for it! "Whether the electorate embraces me, flee from me or stay trembling where they are is up to them. I am merely telling hard truths and offering some sensible and workable alternatives to many of the problems we share, such as the alleged "yob" culture, underage drinking, substance misuse, vandalisms etc. "What I am saying is this; making judgements and laying blame is easy, but it's surely about time our communities took an active, positive interest in the youth of today, rather than turning our backs on them. "The bottom line is the money and resources wasted arresting cannabis users, money that could be used to finance extra police and targeted at social problems of real concern to real people." "Thanks for reading this I do hope you will be able to give these issue an airing.
