Case for cannabis

I AM agitated by Colchester councillor Tim Young's comments (Gaette,
August 8) regarding David Beard's stall in Lion Walk, Colchester.

Is this campaign against Mr Beard supported by Colchester Constituency
Labour Party?

Mr Young says he wants Colchester Council officers to review Mr Beard's
licence.
The effect would be to deny Mr Beard his right to earn an honest living
regardless of the loss of taxes, rent and rates he pays.

We would be pleased to join with Mr Young in an open debate on his concerns
and the complex issues involved when talking about cannabis; he can name
the time and place.

...and case against

The cannabis legalisers are run=ADning scared. For decades smoked raw=
cannabis
has had its alleged medical benefits used to justify legalisation despite
the proven links of cannabis with lung disease and schizophrenia.

Now trials are under way to iso=ADlate the components of cannabis (out of=
the
hundreds of compounds, many carcinogenic, that are absorbed when it is
smoked) and deliver them as a spray or capsule

And the legalisers don't like it. They want to smoke crude canna=ADbis,
usually mixed with tobacco.
