Cannabis issue understood

I must take issue with Alun Buffry of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance in his
asersrtions that council "do not know the issues involvled" in the arguement
over cannabis (Timers post, October 2)

As someone who was for many years heavily involved, throuh my employment in
the NHS, in the area of drugs and drug addiction I fully understand the
differing view points on this issuie.

As an executive member of Braintree Council I am very will ing to give up my
time to discuss the ussue.

What I am not prepared to do is to commit any resources of the council to
the issue.

Why? Because I do not believe the hard-pressed council taxpayer of Braintree
want their money spent on taking up the cause of a very small pressure
group.
