5/04: Judge to make written statement to press on cannabis case

Friday 16 January at Chichester Crown Court.

Sentencing, Keith Chalk to 160 Hours Community Service, for 5 COUNTS
of Supplying cannabis to undercover police officers

The offences happened at Buddies cannabis cafe in Worthing East Sussex

Judge Thorpe said: (not verbatim): "On January 29 the downgrading of
cannabis takes place.

This case is a very important one in the light of reclassification.

"I will be giving a written Statement to the press regarding this case,
because it is such an important one.

He said: "I do not condone supply of cannabis. But I have taken into account
the decision of parliament to downgrade cannabis"
