Sunday 19 Sep 2004 Forward planning: First UK Hemp Fair at Wembley PRESS RELEASE: For and on behalf of www.londonhempfair.com Immediate release For press information contact: Tel: +44 (0) 121 242 6839 berni247365@blueyonder.co.uk First ever UK Hemp Fair announced to take place at Wembley Two leading prominent businesses in Europe, Feria Del Canamo and Weed World, have joined forces to produce the first ever UK hemp fair, taking place at the internationally famous Wembley Exhibition Centre in the UK on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October, 2004. Hemp fairs are not a new thing in Europe and it is the success of Spannabis (organised by Feria Del Canamo) one of the most prominent European hemp fairs in Barcelona combined with the reclassification of Cannabis earlier this year that has prompted the organisers to secure Wembley as the venue to house the London Hemp Fair. The fair the will cover all aspects of the multi-functional plant with an expected attendance of 15,000 plus people from all over the UK, Europe and the rest of the world as well. The London Hemp Fair will bring the best in the business from around the world to Wembley with Exhibitors demonstrating the latest in new technology from the hydroponics industry as well as seed geneticists who will be launching the latest strains to have been developed whilst the latest hemp fashions from around the globe will be displayed at the hemp fashion show, all taking place at the London Hemp Fair. There will be lectures from expert speakers covering all areas of production, cultivation and in particular some prominent experts from the medicinal field. Cannabis as a medicine is so versatile that a plethora of ailments can be managed and even cured by this one humble herb. The major illness that springs to mind is Multiple Sclerosis; it's now a proven fact that MS symptoms are greatly reduced by using the correct dosage of cannabis. Glaucoma, muscle pain, the appetite suppressant effects of chemotherapy, AIDS related wasting symptoms and many more illnesses all benefit from using cannabis at the right dosage. Phil Kilv is one of the organisers of London Hemp Fair he is also founder and proprietor of Weed World the leading marijuana magazine in the UK which has a readership in excess of 125,000 people and is now in its 11th year. Phil Kilv commented "As time has passed so has the attitude towards this God given plant. It is now only the United States government that has a bee in its bonnet with regards to cannabis use, most of Europe, Canada and Australia have relaxed their laws with regards to the agricultural production of hemp and the recreational use of Cannabis. "With the relaxation of these laws it has become much easier for the multi million pound business that is the cannabis industry to enter into the limelight, and take centre stage as a very young but massive revenue producer for the U.K. economy. There is no doubt in my mind that the London Hemp Fair will be a tremendous success, the support from attendees and exhibitors we have received is far in excess of our expectations. It promises to be a very special event". Hemp is the strongest natural fibre known to man. It has now evolved way past the point of a few tie dyed T-shirts made in the back streets of Kathmandu. Some of Europe's leading car manufacturers are now using pressed hemp fibre board as door panelling and fibre for seat padding due to the natural fibres added strength. The construction industry is also embracing hemp fibre board as an alternative to Medium Density Fibreboard because of hemp's superior strength. Hemp plastic manufacturing is still in its infancy and current work in the field looks very promising, which will add another string to the hemp plants multi-functional bow. Food products, beauty products and medicines are just a few of the other uses of Cannabis hemp as well as outdoor clothing. There is even very sexy ladies underwear produced from hemp. As cannabis hemp emerges as the new wonder plant of the 21st century, the industry around it is growing at an astounding rate. On average the hydroponics industry has grown between 250% and 300% each year for the past two years and it's not slowing down. The same can be said for the agricultural side of the business and now also the medicinal side with GW pharmaceuticals about to launch 'Sativex' onto the global marketplace, a cannabis derived medicine administered as a spray under the tongue. The UK is now world leader in many of the industries surrounding the cannabis hemp plant, and now for the first time ever all of this information and technology will be brought together under one roof for the London Hemp Fair.
