Don Barnard of The Legalise Cannabis Alliance (candidate for Norwich South Constituency) Said: "Party politicians are no longer concerned with advocating their own personal beliefs, let alone the beliefs of those they represent. All these sorts of beliefs have become swallowed up by blind and excessive party loyalty.... "The party has become the sacrament, and that, now, is all politicians strive to protect. The leadership almost explicitly advocates a cessation of debate, potential disagreement, and dissension to preserve part unity. Consequently, all power is being given to the party's leaders. "It's time to show the government and opposition parties they can no long get away with evading real issues by censoring discussion and debate and replacing it with insincerity, mendacity, and meaningless postures of moral outrage. "Politicians would be wary what they postulate in Westminster if the local media. And, the people who put them there were watching their every move. said Mr Barnard. I can only hope you consider this of sufficient import to inform/encourage your audience to have their two pence worth. TheyWorkForYou.com is the best place to get the unadulterated low-down on what any MP has said on any subject at Westminster since 2001. It advises how to find a MP , what they have been up to. How to Fax their MP [Free] http://www.faxyourmp.com/ You can set up an alert when specific words are mention in a debate in the Commons , which are delivered via email Most important this site gives "ordinary people" a chance to become a MP and take part in the debate by scribbling in the margins of Hansard. 2] This is what TheyWorkForYou.com has to say on their website About us We are a dozen or so volunteers who think it should be really easy for people to keep tabs on their elected MP, and comment on what goes on in Parliament. We've done this sort of thing before, but never on this scale. For all its faults and foibles, our democracy is a profound gift from previous generations. Yet most people don't know the name of their MP, nor their constituency, let alone what their MP does or says in their name. We aim to help bridge this growing democratic disconnect, in the belief that there is little wrong with Parliament that a healthy mixture of transparency and public engagement won't fix. Hence this website. Between us, we've developed and run a range of not-for-profit websites of a vaguely similar ilk. PublicWhip.org.uk, FaxYourMP.com, PepysDiary.com, Haddock.org, Byliner.com, B3Ta, DowningStreetSays.com, MySociety, and highly-accessible re-versionings of the Odeon Cinema & National Rail Timetable websites. We conceived and developed the original UpMyStreet.com back in 1998. We do all this in our spare time, because we think it's worth doing. And if it's worth doing, we might as well try to do it well. It's not strictly true to say that the website was built entirely by volunteer effort. One of our key developers was kept fed for a month by a small grant from a charity called UK Citizen's Online Democracy. This money was vital. Hungry developers don't write good cod * Martin Belam * James Crabtree * James Cronin * Stephen Dunn * Yoz Grahame * Phil Gyford * David Heath * Francis Irving * Ben Laurie * Tom Loosemore * Stefan Magdalinski * Dorian McFarland * Anno Mitchell * Danny O'Brien * Matthew Somerville * Tom Steinberg * Stuart Tily * Julian Todd * Denise Wilton END --------------------------------------------------------------------- You or some body has subscribed you to the Legalise Cannabis Alliance General Press mailing list.
