Pot Granny Spared Jail
Robin Perrie The Sun
Friday 08 Apr 2005 A GRANNY who cooked cannabis hotpots for her pals was spared jail yesterday. Judge David Hodson said he suspected 66-year-old dope fan Patricia Tabram wanted to be a "martyr" for the cannabis cause by going to prison. And he added: "I have no intention of doing that." Instead he gave her a suspended six-month sentence and ordered her to pay UKP750 costs. After the hearing, the defiant gran announced she was standing in the election for the Legalise Cannabis Alliance. She will fight Commons leader and Labour MP Peter Hain in his Neath seat, South Wales. Mrs Tabram also vowed to keep using the drug. And she revealed that her friends - aged 89, 87, 79, 74 and 47 - now have cannabis delivered to them by a local dealer. She added: "I'll continue to cook for them if they get the ingredients."
