Drumming Up Support
South Wales Evening Post
Tuesday 19 Apr 2005 Candidates from the Legalise Cannabis Alliance have been walking the streets of Carmarthenshire in an attempt to drum up support for the party. Former reporter Sid Whitworth is running in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr and Alex Daszak is standing in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire. The pair have been campaigning in Carmarthen town centre, as well as in Tenby. It is the first time the political party has had candidates in Wales. They are expected to have enough candidates standing to qualify for TV and radio party election broadcasts. Mr Daszak said: "People have been showing an interest in our policies, particularly regarding the medical use of cannabis, which can be used for pain relief. "In terms of legalising the recreational use of the drug, the tax on this would free up millions of pounds which could be put back into public services."
