News

Belfast Telegraph

Monday 30 Jun 2008

A new report from the National Advisory Committee on Drugs reveals a surge in drug use throughout the country, particularly in the west.
Since 2003, the prevalence of drugs among adults in the west of the country has almost doubled to 23%.

Drug use is still highest in the eastern region, with more than a third of adults saying they've tried some illegal substance.

The study shows that cannabis remains the most popular drug, but cocaine use has increased significantly and has now overtaken the use of ecstasy and magic mushrooms.
