Cannabis ‘used to ease sciatica’ Anthony O'Connell Neath Guardian Wednesday 06 Aug 2008 James Keith Fellows, of Bethlehem Road, admitted possession of the class C drug. The 49-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge after magistrates were told how the drug helped his sciatica. Crown Prosecutor Chris Smith told the court how, at 9.35pm on May 23, police went to Fellows’ home with a warrant. He said: “There were two boys in the room downstairs and Mr Fellows and his wife were upstairs.” The defendant came downstairs and the drug was found. Mr Smith said: “There was a block of cannabis resin in the jeans of Mr Fellows. “He was arrested on suspicion of possession and he admitted it was for his personal use.” The prosecutor said the block was 210.3g of cannabis resin, which he said was consistent with being for personal use. Defending, solicitor Stephen Harrett said: “He suffers from sciatica and used cannabis to ease the pain of those difficulties. “He has previous convictions but they date back 10 years with the last conviction being in 1997. “Essentially he is a man of clean character.” Fellows must pay £60 court costs which will be deducted from his benefit payments. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/
