UK: Cannabis grower sent to jail Christine Cunningham Eastern Daily Press Saturday 03 Jan 2009 Sean Davison, 36, had debts after his business failed and he enlisted the help of Steven Lutkin, 27, to give him advice on how best to grow the cannabis plants, Norwich Crown Court heard. But his plan failed when police raided the premises in Hawkes Lanes, Bracon Ash, in June last year and smashed the operation. Lori Tucker, prosecuting, said that police found Davison had installed heating and lighting equipment as well as CCTV cameras. There were seven plants growing and a quantity of cannabis had been harvested. There were also 186 cannabis plant stems. When arrested, Davison told police he had been growing the cannabis without his parent's knowledge for about a year. Davison, of Lark Rise, Mulbarton, and Lutkin, of Barrett Road, Norwich, both admitted being involved in producing cannabis. Davison was jailed for 21 months and Lutkin for 18 months. Katharine Moore, for Davison, said he was a married man of previous good character who had been a successful businessman until a mobile tyre business he set up failed and he was left with debts and made bankrupt in 2002. "He was tempted by a business opportunity. He was simply desperate to clear family debts," she said. She said Davison did not play any direct role in selling the cannabis. Philip Farr, for Lutkin, said he was a cannabis addict who acted as an adviser. "He disputes selling cannabis or making any financial gain. This is a man with a cannabis problem," he said. http://new.edp24.co.uk/
