Nelson man grew cannabis 'to ease anxiety'
Burnley Citizen Saturday 03 Jan 2009 Mark Hamer, 35, had five plants on the go at his Nelson house, was using sodium lights and the windows were blacked out. He had a similar conviction from last year, Burnley Magistrates heard. Hamer, of Belgrave Street, admitted cultivating cannabis plants. He was fined £65, with a £15 victim surcharge and £50 costs. John Rusius, defending, said Hamer's condition caused a great deal of stress and anxiety and he used cannabis to calm him down so he would not get into difficulties in relationships with other people or get in trouble. It was cheaper than having to be involved with dealers and was not putting money in their pockets. The cultivation was at the very bottom end of the scale. http://www.burnleycitizen.co.uk
