New Zealand: ACT/Cannabis Party revealing candidates

Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party and ACT announcing candidates for Mt Albert by-election this afternoon.

Two more candidates are expected to be named for Helen Clark's old seat today.

ACT is widely believed to have picked John Boscowan to run in the Mt Albert by-election and will make an announcement this afternoon. Mr Boscowan campaigned against the Electoral Finance Act and now wants an investigation into finance companies.

The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party is also releasing the name of its candidate today.

Greens co-leader Russel Norman has already announced he is standing for his party.

Melissa Lee is expected to win the selection contest for National and Labour will select its candidate tomorrow. Its front runner is David Shearer, who has worked for the United Nations and returned to New Zealand from Baghdad to stand.
