UK: Lancashire MEP: Cannabis Upgrade is 'Ludicrous'

North West MEP Chris Davies has branded the upgrade of cannabis to a class B drug as "ludicrous".

He said the change, which came into force yesterday, took no account of evidence and advice of experts, and risked criminalising thousands of young people.

He said the drug presented many fewer dangers than alcohol, adding: "Drugs policy in Britain is a farce.

"It puts huge sums of money into the hands of real villains, while branding decent people as criminals."
