UK: Merseyside police officers in court over suspected cannabis dealing ring

TWO Merseyside police officers appeared in court over an alleged cannabis dealing ring.

Andrew Bird, 34, from Fazakerley, appeared at Liverpool magistrates’ court yesterday charged with possession with intent to supply and supply of the class B drug.

Co-defendant Darren Burns, 31, of Southport, who was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Both men were arrested in raids in May during swoops by the force’s Professional Standards Department and are currently suspended from duty.

They spoke only to confirm their name, date of birth and address .

The case was adjourned until August 27 and both were granted conditional bail.
