A DRUG-DEALING Skelmersdale council tenant who was jailed for growing cannabis plants has been evicted from her council house.

Shirley Middleton and her accomplice Kevin Jarvis, both of Enstone, were sent to prison after police raided the house and found 79 cannabis plants, resin and bush.

In January 2009 both were found guilty of possessing a class C drug, and producing and possessing a class C drug with intent to supply. Council tenant Miss Middleton was given an 18-month prison sentence while Jarvis was given 19 months.

West Lancashire Council was informed about the case by police, who provided DVD footage of the raid being carried out. After witnessing the evidence, the council obtained a court order to take possession of the house as it had been used for criminal activities.

Miss Middleton has been released from prison and council officers went to the property yesterday (Wednesday) to carry out the formal eviction notice and change the locks.

On entering the house officers found it in a shocking state.

Kitchen units had been ripped off the walls and doors were hanging off hinges.

Graffiti had been scrawled on the wall including obscenities against the council.
