The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) seized 1 quintal charas (cannabis) worth Rs 1 crore in three different operations last week and arrested eight people in connection with the case.

Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS) Parambir Singh said, “Acting on a tip-off, the first operation was conducted on August 8 when we arrested Mohammad Abdul with 3 kgs of charas. A day later on August 9, a group of three men was caught carrying 25 kgs of charas. The officials intercepted a Tavera bearing a Rajasthan number in the Pydhonie area and arrested them. The accused were identified as Harish Pandit (30) from Jammu and Kashmir, Babu Khan (43) and Sikandar Khan (42) from Udaipur in Rajasthan.”

According to the ANC sleuths, the charas was allegedly being brought from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for sale in the city.

Singh added that on the night of August 9, the unit officials also nabbed four men from the Western Express Highway near Dahisar with 75 kgs of charas. “In this case too, the four men were travelling in Travera bearing Uttar Pradesh number.”
