Dying star Dennis Hopper in pot binge

Dying actor Dennis Hopper is smoking up to £500-worth of cannabis a week in his final days.

The Easy Rider star claims he needs the drug to ease the pain of his prostate cancer.

But a friend of his fifth wife Victoria Duffy, who is divorcing him, said: "Dennis is a hopeless drug addict. He's smoking two ounces of weed a week to escape reality."

Hopper, 73, obtains the drug legally because of his illness from a dispensary near his home in Venice, California.

Meanwhile, Duffy, 42, claims Hopper has been persuaded to divorce her on his death bed by his children so they can shut her out of his will.
