US: Judge Refuses To Halt Closure Of L.A. Pot Clinics

A Los Angeles judge has denied a temporary court order that would have allowed four medical marijuana clinics to remain open after a city ordinance takes effect June 7.

Superior Court Judge David P. Yaffee's decision Wednesday could discourage other dispensaries from seeking similar orders to block enforcement of the ordinance.

The four clinics are among 44 that have filed lawsuits.

The new city rule allows only dispensaries that registered by Nov. 13, 2007, to continue to operate.

Violating the ordinance could result in six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
