UK: Woman used cannabis to ease stress after being assaulted
Lincolnshire Echo Sunday 06 Jun 2010 Police officers raided Susan Patchett's home in Scorer Street, Lincoln, on a warrant on May 8 and found a quantity of cannabis. On Friday, Patchett pleaded guilty to possessing the Class B drug at Lincoln Magistrates' Court. In mitigation, Tony Freitus said a lot of the substances that the police confiscated were herbal tobacco Patchett had bought at Ingoldmells Market. He said: "The cannabis was for her own personal use to take away stress and help her sleep." Mr Freitus said that the reason why Patchett was stressed was that she had been assaulted by a drunken gang outside on her street. He said: "Her levels of stress have hit the roof since then. "She has been put on medication but does not feel safe in her house any more." Patchett was fined £100 and was told to pay the victim surcharge of £15. http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/news/Woman-used-cannabis-ease-stress/article-2274109-detail/article.html
