UK: Towy Valley school expels boys found with cannabis in grounds Alexander Smith The Journal Wednesday 10 Nov 2010 The teenagers, who went to Tre-Gib school in Llandeilo, were caught in possession of cannabis and permanently excluded last month. County Councillor Anthony Jones, who is a governor at the school, said emphatically: "They will have to find somewhere else to go now, they won't be back at Tre-Gib." School staff have kept the incident under wraps until now, and many parents said they were unaware of the situation. One man, who sends his child to the school but did not wish to be named, said he "knew nothing about it at all". "I don't think it's a particularly bad school for drugs. Some teenagers are always going to smoke drugs, but I guess the action the police have taken does reassure me." Police reprimanded the teenagers two days after the incident happened, on September 11. After an internal disciplinary process at the school four weeks ago the pair were permanently excluded. Police said the situation had been dealt with quickly and effectively. "Tackling drug abuse is a key priority for police in Carmarthenshire," said Inspector Paul Williams. "In this particular instance two teenagers were found in possession of cannabis in school. "Neither ourselves nor the school are prepared to tolerate this kind of behaviour, and we hope this sends out the correct message that offenders will be caught and they will be dealt with."
