Eire: Limerick father of three remanded in custody after big drugs seizure in Ballyclough David Hurley Limerick Leader Wednesday 10 Nov 2010 Shane Mangan, 49, who has an address at Suncrest, Crecora was arrested on Sunday afternoon when gardai from the divisional drugs unit stopped a van in the Ballyclough area. It is alleged that 25 kilogrammes of cannabis, worth €300,000, were found concealed in the van, which had arrived in Limerick from the Continent. At Limerick District Court, Det Garda David Baynham said the defendant made no reply when he was formally charged yesterday afternoon with possession of the drugs for the purpose of sale or supply. Insp Seamus Nolan opposed a bail application saying gardai were concerned the defendant does not have a permanent address in this jurisdiction. He alleged that the accused man made "certain admissions" following his arrest and he alleged Mr Mangan had false documents in his possession when he was arrested. Solicitor Ted McCarthy said his client would abide by any bail conditions imposed by the court and he said Mr Mangan was "welcome" to live at his home address despite being separated from his wife. Judge Tom O'Donnell adjourned the case until Thursday to allow evidence of this to be given to the court. He said he would also require a "very substantial" surety if he grants bail. http://www.limerickleader.ie/news/Father-of-three-is-in.6619556.jp
