UK: Radford cannabis factor owner given second chance by judge

Coventry Telegraph

Monday 15 Nov 2010

A HEAVY drug user who had a cannabis factory in his house has been given a second chance by a Coventry judge.

Daniel Lambe, 25, of Brightmere Road, Radford was caught growing 48 large cannabis plants in the front bedroom of his house in April after police officers executed a warrant at the property.

At Coventry Crown Court on Friday, Judge Peter Barrie told Lambe he should have expected a 12 month custodial sentence for one count of producing a class B drug.

But a guilty plea from Lambe and an appeal for leniency, worked in his favour.

Instead he was handed a 12 months sentence, suspended for two years and ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work.

Prosecuting, Richard Franck, said Lambe had smoked cannabis on a daily basis for 12 years.

He had begun growing the drug to save money and intended to keep two thirds of it for himself.

The rest he planned to sell for around £1,400.
